Oregon College Football Preview 2010

The Oregon Ducks come off one of the most successful seasons in school history that earned first year head coach Chip Kelly Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors.  Kelly was tested early as a head coach when star RB LeGarette Blount cold cocked a Boise State player after a disappointing loss in the opener.  Kelly handled the ordeal well and it seemed to unify the team from that point forward as they won 10 of their final 11 games.  The Ducks will fly high once again this year under a spread option attack that gained 232 ypg on the ground a year ago.  Oregon will begin defending the Pac-10 crown on Sept 25th at Arizona St.

Live odds are available all season long at Betfirms.  Our top handicappers provide expert college football picks to help you build a bankroll and beat the books!

LaMichael James was an unknown commodity to most Duck fans before last season.  The former star high school RB in Texas took advantage of his opportunity in the second

Ingram favored to win second Heisman

The 2010 College Football season starts in just over a month, so we might as well get a head start on handicapping who will take home college football’s most prestigious individual award. Numerous online sportsbooks unleashed odds on the 2010 Heisman Trophy last week and to little surprise Alabama running back Mark Ingram is the +350 betting favorite to have his name called out by the Downtown Athletic Club in early December.

Surprisingly, Ingram is the first Heisman Trophy winner in the proud history of Alabama Crimson Tide. However, for those that bet on the Heisman, there is something to consider before backing the favored Ingram this year. No one has won the Heisman in back-to-back years since Archie Griffin, way back in 1974 and 1975. The last two winners prior to Ingram, Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford, both had legit shots at winning a second consecutive Heisman, but came up short.

Using the Heisman betting odds, let’s take a look

Vail Valley Winter

As presented in www.FirstLightSports.com

The clear cobalt blue sky and the incredibly white powdery snow seemed to form an unrealistic theater set. But this was no theater, and I was surely not playing the lead in any Gilbert & Sullivan musical. I was perched atop a Volkswagen sized mogul on a black-diamond run called Wow high in the Rockies. Goggles askew, skis scattered, dusted head to toe with powder, and with one horseshoe shaped ski pole I slowly realized that this was a moment for contemplation. I sat up from my fall, feeling much like James Bond’s martini (shaken, not stirred) and thought with a smile “what a great place to be!” Here I was, in the heart of the White Mountains skiing the jewel of the Rockies, the Mecca of powder hounds world wide, Vail. I was in Vail’s world famous back bowls and I was on my butt.

Skiing Vail is a unique full-spectrum ski experience. A group of friends and I from Milwaukee headed for Vail’s renowned

Six Tips for Collecting Fenton Crests

I have been collecting Fenton Art Glass for almost eight years now and probably my favorite collection is Crests. Fenton crests are often made from milk glass (although not always) and have a different color of glass applied to the edge of the piece. Crests were made starting in the late 1930′s and technically are still being made today. However, most of the crests that I collect were made in the 40′s, 50′s, 60′s and 70′s. Here are five quick tips that I have discovered in collecting Fenton Crests.

1. Choose colors that you like. When I started collecting crests I decided that I wanted to get one piece of every color of crest that Fenton made. A few years later I discovered that I had over a hundred pieces and I didn’t really enjoy a lot of them. Since then I have begun to focus my collection on colors that I really love. For me, I really enjoy Fenton Blue Ridge, Black-Crest, Blue Snowcrest, Ruby Silvercrest and Ivory-Crest.

Advertising

Egyptians used papyrus to make sales messages and wall posters. Commercial messages and political campaign displays have been found in the ruins of Pompeii and ancient Arabia. Lost and found advertising on papyrus was common in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. Wall or rock painting for commercial advertising is another manifestation of an ancient advertising form, which is present to this day in many parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. The tradition of wall painting can be traced back to Indian rock art paintings that date back to 4000 BC.[4] History tells us that Out-of-home advertising and billboards are the oldest forms of advertising.

As the towns and cities of the Middle Ages began to grow, and the general populace was unable to read, signs that today would say cobbler, miller, tailor or blacksmith would use an image associated with their trade such as a boot, a suit, a hat, a clock, a diamond, a horse shoe, a candle or even a bag of flour.
